[ARCHIVED] Texas Emergency Council Issues Fire Weather Warning

The Texas Emergency Council has issued a warning regarding dangerous fire conditions that could worsen due to increased wind speeds associated with Tropical Storm Harold. Any ignition that occurs during this period may result in wildfires that burn intensely and exhibit extreme fire behavior. These fires are also likely to be resistant to firefighter suppression efforts.

Avoid all outdoor burning and welding or other activities that might generate sparks. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside. Report wild fires to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office. Rapid ignition and spread of wildfires is possible due to persistent hot and dry conditions.
