Arbor Day 2022

NACOGDOCHES, TX – Texas Arbor Day is the first Friday of November every year, falling on Friday, November 4th this year. Texas Arbor Day is an annual legislated holiday led by Texas A&M Forest Service, with the statewide theme for this year is “It Takes All Kinds”. Nacogdoches’ festivities will be celebrated by multiple entities with a tree planting as well as the grand opening of the Friends of the Forest Trail. 

The Friends of the Forest Trail is an interactive trail experience for Nacogdoches youth to enjoy at both Pecan Park and Pioneer Park. Each park has a guide that highlights different wildlife species that are native to East Texas. This is a joint project that was brought together by Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful, Nacogdoches Public Library and Recreation Center, and Eagle Scout Holden Kelly. The Friends of the Forest Trail guides can be found on the Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful website, www.keepnacbeautiful.org 

The Nacogdoches Arbor Day event will take place November 4th, 2022 at Pioneer Park (501 Lenwood Dr, Nacogdoches, TX 75964). We will be planting trees throughout the park beginning at 9:00am and dedication of the Friends of the Forest Trail at 10:00am.Please park on the west side of the playground. The Garden Capital of Texas Committee will be providing light refreshments.
