Fire Chief
Chief Keith Kiplinger has been the Fire Chief for Nacogdoches since 2006. Prior to that Kiplinger served the City and County of Nacogdoches as a firefighter, paramedic and peace officer from 1989-2000. From 2000- 2006 Kiplinger served the City of Dickinson in Galveston County as Fire Marshal and Director of Public Safety and Community Development.Kiplinger earned a BA in Public Safety Management from ST. Edwards University in Austin and is a licensed paramedic, peace officer, fire fighter, arson investigator and public safety instructor. Keith, his wife, Ashley and their daughter Katy have made Nacogdoches their home.
Office Manager
Terri Martin is the office manager of the Nacogdoches Fire Department. She is responsible for all office administration functions and is the custodian of records for the department. Terri is likely the person you talk to if you request a fire truck to visit a school, schedule a birthday party, participate in CFA or call the department with a question. She takes pride in providing excellent customer service to the city and her department.Training Officer
Administrative Captain Chuck French is responsible for coordinating, conducting and presenting training activities for all personnel. The Training Officer maintains individual and company training records, assesses the training needs of department personnel and develops programs to meet these needs.In addition he also provides customer service assistance to citizens, developers, contractors, business owners and others. Captain French assists the Emergency Management Coordinator as a member of the command or general staff and provides Wildland Training through TIFMAS for the East Branch.
Prevention/EMS Coordinator
Administrative Captain Michael Self is responsible for managing the fire prevention functions of the Department including inspections of buildings, plans review and all public fire education programs. Michael also serves as the emergency medical services coordinator and as a member of the Pineywoods Incident Management Team. Michael has been with Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue since 2003 and is certified as an advanced firefighter, advanced inspector, fire investigator and paramedic.Fire Marshal Office
The primary purpose of the Nacogdoches Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) is to promote public safety and reduce hazards to life and property.
Division Chief Mike Brown serves the Nacogdoches Fire Department as Fire Marshal. The Primary duties of the FMO are fire/arson investigations and ensuring the safety of life and property through oversight and enforcement of model Fire and Building codes. Chief Brown and shift investigators work together to determine the cause and origin of each explosion, building fire and/or vehicle fire within the City whose cause is not immediately known. They may also assist the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies with cause and origin investigations when requested. The Fire Marshal Investigators are dual-certified as licensed firefighters and peace officers. Fire Marshal Chief Brown supervises the City of Nacogdoches Inspection Services Division, whose responsibilities include Building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical system inspections.
