Form of Government

The City of Nacogdoches has a council / manager form of government. Under this form of government, the elected City Council member sets the policies for the operation of the municipal government. The administrative responsibility of the city rests with the city manager, who is appointed by the City Council. The City Council consists of five members: a mayor and four council members.

Hybrid City Council Meeting:

City Council began hosting public meetings in a hybrid format on November 4, 2020 due to the pandemic. This allowed for limited in-person seating and included the option for residents to participate from home.

City Council began in person City Council meetings on May 18, 2021 but members of the public can still sign up to speak at City Council meetings via telephone while watching the meeting virtually on Channel 21.

To schedule a time to speak please call the Deputy City Secretary, Rhonda Lewis at 559-2506. Time and speaker limits during the open forum will still be observed.
