Nacogdoches Animal Services and Adoption Center will be extending hours of operation on Monday, June 1st. As always, we want to be able to serve our community while protecting citizens and staff. In order to accomplish this, the shelter will continue limiting services and the number of people admitted to the shelter. The shelter is closed to the public during the morning in order to thoroughly clean the entire building. At this time, we are still unable to admit community service workers, volunteers and school organizations until further notice.
Operating hours will be Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Number of people admitted into the shelter will be limited and all visitors will be required to check in at a station set up outside of the shelter.
Staff will invite people in based on their time of arrival, purpose of their visit and available space in the shelter.
If our available allotted visitor space fills up, staff will institute a wait time. Patrons will be issued a number and can wait by their vehicle.
Staff will begin accepting animal surrenders by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
All of the above regulations will be evaluated on a weekly basis and adjusted based on community response and cooperation. The overall goal is to meet the needs of our public, our staff and our animals while limiting exposure and maintaining the health and safety of all.
